This online panel discussion is NOT a funding "how-to"-- rather it is a close look at the state of government arts funding for jazz in the U.S. today, and how it affects all of us who create, present, cover or otherwise care about jazz. Michael Faison, director of the Idaho Commission on the Arts; Jennifer Johnson Washington, Director of Programming, Chicago Mayor's Office of Special Events (presenter of the annual Chicago Jazz Festival),and Cedric R. Hendricks, a Washington D.C.-based attorney and former staffer for Congressman John Conyers (D-MI), unfold the links between U.S. government support for the arts, especially jazz, and local efforts at the state and city level. Moderated by JJA President Howard Mandel.
