Adriana Mateo is an Argentine-born photographer and videographer based since 1992 in Manhattan. Her father Roberto Mateo was an award-winning Director of Photgraphy. A graduate of New York University Film School, she has been an active freelance photographer focusing especially on jazz and architecture since 1989.

Adriana won the 2019 JJA Jazz Award for Photo of the Year with her image of trumpeter Roy Hargrove sitting at a piano at the Teatro Moracchi during the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy. Her book AM Jazz - Three Generations Under the Lens -- includes a foreward by saxophonist Jimmy Heath. Adriana conducts Photo Workshops and Webinars, among other private instructional services.

Adriana Mateo's JJA Master Class is the first of a monthly series of interactive presentations by photographers involved with jazz among other subjects, discussing their careers, techniques, and approaches to current professional issues. She will be interviewed by Hrayr Attarian, photographer and chair of the JJA's Photo of the Year committee.

Attendees will be enabled to ask questions. JJA members may register to attend free of charge. Non-members must pay $10 to register for the Zoom call.
