I am a jazz
writer
I am the author/producer of
There & Back: The Roy Porter Story
I am also the author/ producer of:
THE BLUE NOTE -- Seattle's Black Musicians' Union, A Pictorial History
Available at (URL or ISBN #2)
Distributed by: Washington State University Press
Other key Publications/Productions
I am a contributor to The Jazz Omnibus: 21st-Century Photos and Writings by Members of the Jazz Journalists Association, from Cymbal Press
My interests in jazz are:
The music, its practioners, and its history. I like most forms of jazz music from early sounds to avant-garde or spirit music. Am also interested in jazz biographies, fiction, and poetry.
More about what I do:
I am working with Nimbus West Records on a re-issue of the Horace Tapscott Trio recording "Dissent or Descent."
Additionally, I have written liner notes with Don Snowden and helped produce the Dark Tree CD "Legacies for Our Grandchildren -- Live in Hollywood, 1995" with the Horace Tapscott Quintet.
I support the JJA because
I now have more time to concentrate on jazz music and my interests align well with those of JJA.
