More about what I do:
I cover jazz for the Seattle Times, where I served as pop music editor until December, 2016, and have been a regular contributor to Down Beat's Hot Box feature since 2000. I am the author of "Jackson Street After Hours: The Roots of Jazz in Seattle" and "Shall We Play That One Together? The Life and Art of Jazz Piano Legend Marian McPartland" and have taught jazz history at Cornish College for the Arts and at the University of Washington. I am currently working on "After the Bottle Clubs Closed: Seattle Jazz in the Modern Era." I am also leading a group that is designing a self-guided tour of Seattle's historic jazz district along Jackson Street.
